The Curriculum

Thirteen Modules.
The Entire Craft.

From the first safety briefing to 3D-guided paving, the curriculum follows the work from the ground up — built around how paving actually happens on the jobsite. Watch a preview of any module below.

Modules 1–10

The Core Curriculum

The foundation every paving career is built on. Included with every subscription tier.

Module 01

Safety & Site Culture

11 Lessons

The cornerstone every paving career is built on. Safety culture, PPE, OSHA regulations, hazard recognition, traffic control, and the specific dangers of paving work. By the end, every crew member knows the hazards, how to spot them, and what to do when something goes wrong.

Module 02

Materials Science & Plant

14 Lessons

The science behind what gets laid down. Aggregate properties, binder behavior, mix design, SuperPave methodology, and the plant operations that produce every ton of hot mix. This is where good paving and great paving separate.

Module 03

Job Planning & Site Prep

14 Lessons

Every job is won or lost before the first ton arrives. Reading project documents, pre-job planning, utility coordination, permits, traffic control, grade management, and quantity tracking with real financial depth. The crews who plan well finish on time, on budget, and within spec.

Module 04

Paver Operations

14 Lessons

The paver is the heart of the operation, and the operator's hands are where quality is made. Controls, pre-start inspection, screed operations, material management, joint construction, paving math, and troubleshooting. The paver doesn't lie — every choice shows up in the mat.

Module 05

Compaction & Density

14 Lessons

Compaction is where the road earns its lifespan. Roller types and operations, compaction patterns, temperature discipline, density specifications, nuclear and non-nuclear testing, and intelligent compaction. It's the last chance to add quality — and the first place poor results show up.

Module 06

Material Transfer Vehicles

7 Lessons

The MTV is the unsung hero of modern paving. MTV types, operations, truck-to-paver coordination, maintenance, and the documented evidence of how MTV use affects mat quality. On high-quality work it's no longer optional — and the crews who understand it deliver better mats.

Module 07

Milling Operations

12 Lessons

Every overlay starts with the milling that came before it. Cold planer operations, cutting drum technology, milling patterns, production management, reclaimed asphalt handling, and quality control. The quality of the finished surface is set before a single ton of new mix is placed.

Module 08

Handwork & Finishing

10 Lessons

The work the paver can't do. The tools of the trade, shoveling and luting technique, transitions and tapers, working around utilities, edge and gutter work, and hand compaction. This is where craftsmanship is most visible — and where good crews separate from great ones.

Module 09

Defect Diagnosis

12 Lessons

Every defect in the mat is the result of a choice made before it appeared. The diagnostic method, segregation, surface and smoothness defects, density failures, cracking, rutting, and the prevention checklist that catches problems early. The crews who can read the mat catch their own problems.

Module 10

DOT Regs & Quality Control

12 Lessons

Quality control is the difference between a paving operation and a paving profession. Quality plans, inspection procedures, material acceptance, density verification, smoothness monitoring, non-conformance management, and the professional conduct expected of QC personnel.

Modules 11–13 · Premium

The Premium Specialties

Advanced, high-margin specialties beyond the core. Included with the National and Enterprise tiers.

Module 11

Reclaimed Asphalt (RAP)PREMIUM

12 Lessons

The future of the industry runs on reclaimed materials. RAP fundamentals, processing and stockpile management, high-RAP mix design, warm-mix technologies, rejuvenators, and the sustainability policies driving demand. The operations that master it first will own the bid sheets that follow.

Module 12

Airport Paving OperationsPREMIUM

12 Lessons

The most demanding specialty in the asphalt industry. The FAA regulatory framework, P-401 mix design, airport-grade smoothness requirements, foreign object debris management, friction standards, and night operations on active airports. One of the highest-margin specialties in the field.

Module 13

3D Machine ControlPREMIUM

17 Lessons

The biggest technological shift in paving in fifty years. GNSS positioning, digital terrain models, the design-to-machine data pipeline, 3D-guided paving and milling, intelligent compaction, and implementation strategy for contractors. 3D is no longer the future of paving — it's the present.
