About Asphalt Paving Mastery

The Trade Deserves a Professional Standard.

Asphalt Paving Mastery is a B2B training platform built to pass down the knowledge that keeps American roads moving — from the crew that mixes it to the inspector who signs off on it.

Why We Exist

The Work Is Funded. The Knowledge Is Walking Out the Door.

The country has committed more than $110 billion to rebuild its roads and bridges. The money is real. The projects are real. The one thing that can't be funded into existence is a skilled, safety-minded crew that knows how to lay it down right.

Nearly one in five construction workers is over fifty-five. Every year, decades of hard-won jobsite knowledge retires with them — knowledge that traditionally took years on the mat to acquire, passed down one crew member at a time, if it was passed down at all.

Asphalt Paving Mastery was built to close that gap. Not with a textbook, and not with a one-time safety video, but with a complete, structured curriculum that captures how the work actually happens — and puts it on the screens where crews already gather.

The next decade of American roads runs on the crews being trained right now.

The Founder

Founded by Someone Who's Done the Work.

Asphalt Paving Mastery was founded by Davon Mohabir, its twenty-five-year-old owner. The curriculum reflects exactly where it came from — the field, not a lecture hall — built on six years of hands-on Florida paving, from back roads in the middle of nowhere to some of the most demanding work in the state.

That includes major airport work at Orlando International (MCO) and high-profile highway projects on Florida's Turnpike, the Wekiva Parkway, and State Roads 417 and 429 — the kind of jobs where the spec is unforgiving and there's no room to guess.

It was shaped by time operating every machine on the spread, and by the hours spent in QC labs and plant towers, where mat quality is actually decided. That field pedigree is baked into all thirteen modules — so what your crew learns is how the job really gets done, not how a book describes it.

Our Approach

Training Built the Way the Work Actually Happens.

Most training treats paving like a chapter to memorize. We treat it like a jobsite to run. Every module is structured around the real sequence of the work — from the first safety briefing and the pre-job planning to the paver, the rollers, the joints, the milling, and the quality control that ties it all together.

Content is delivered through production-quality video and grounded in real specification requirements, not generalities. It's technical enough to satisfy a twenty-year operator and approachable enough for a first-week hire — because the same crew has both, and both need to be on the same page.

And because the industry never stops moving, the curriculum doesn't either. As standards evolve, regulations change, and technologies like 3D machine control move from the future to the present, the course is updated to match. A subscription is always the current version — not a video that froze the day it was bought.

What We Stand For

The Principles Behind the Curriculum

Four commitments that shape every lesson we build.

01

Safety First, Always

Paving is dangerous work in live traffic and around heavy equipment. Every crew member should know the hazards, how to spot them, and what to do when something goes wrong — before it does.

02

Craftsmanship Over Shortcuts

The paver doesn't lie. Every choice shows up in the mat. We teach the details that separate a road that lasts from one that fails early — because quality is a decision made before the first ton arrives.

03

Professionalizing the Trade

Paving is a skilled profession, and it deserves to be treated like one. We're building the training that gives operators, inspectors, and crews a common, professional standard to be proud of.

04

Grounded in the Standards

Every lesson draws from authoritative sources — FHWA, AASHTO, NAPA, the Asphalt Institute, ASTM, FAA, MUTCD, and state DOTs — so what your crew learns lines up with what the specs demand.
